Set a date in your calendar for LIL! – 6th to 11th November 2017!

The LIL DRAMA COMPANY has earmarked the 600 seat JUBILEE CENTRAL a hidden gem in Hull’s King Edward Street for six nights, to put on the first professional performance of ‘LIL’, a play written by Val Holmes. “It’s a great venue with a great vibe for the period of the play!” Val says. So the company will be busy over the next few months to raise awareness about the play and acquire the additional sponsors needed to help with its final production budget.

The next step is also to find fifty local women with a passion for theatre to help recreate this incredible story. Women who want a challenge, enjoy meeting people and willing to join us as our COMMUNITY PLAYERS for it’s six day run. “LIL’S LASSIES” will form an integral part of the Drama Groups innovative approach to promoting this and future LIL projects. Meeting once a month from April they will get to see how the play comes together, help with promotions and get to be in the final production.

Women of all ages, over twenty five, who want to hear more should attend one of two open meetings at 6.00pm Friday 17th March or 12.00pm Saturday the 18th March at PAD STUDIOS, 42 High Street, Hull. Following that at a later date, a further 10 minute interview will take place to select the final fifty community performers. Please note: The company can only consider people who are available to perform for the full six nights from the 6th – 11th November 2017.

“The whole approach as a company is about self reliance, and giving a chance for people to get involved in a commercial production, with high ambitions.” says Paul A Dennis the play’s Creative Producer. “Our plan is to raise enough money to put on a great show, worthy of the story. That includes the search for an actress to take on the lead role of LIL. A great role to make their own! Along with a professional core cast, innovative staging, music and production values.”

“There are so many companies in HULL and especially in the Hessle Road area that have done well over the years. With second and third generation family owners. We know they are proud of their progress in that local community and can now, in this cultural, celebratory year, play a part in telling the world about the life and times of it’s recent past” Val says.
